As a client-centered therapist trained through a social work perspective, I know what exceptional care means - that’s why I offer my clients a wide range of useful information and resources to empower and help maximize the opportunity for change in themselves and/or their situations. Feel free to explore the no-cost resources listed below and educate yourself at your convenience wherever you are.
Adult Children of Alcoholics
Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families (ACA) is a no-cost self-help group for people who grew up in dysfunctional homes. ACA groups meet to share how alcoholism and other family dysfunction affected us in the past as children and how the experiences of growing up in an environment with abuse, neglect and trauma influences the present. This affects us today and influences how we deal with all aspects of our lives. ACA groups are offered in-person, online, and by phone and are available in just about every city and state within the U.S. If you feel nervous or intimidated by attending a group, know that you can just sit-in and listen to figure out if ACA groups may be something you find helpful.
Al-Anon
Al-Anon is a no-cost support group for people whose lives have been affected by someone else's substance use problem. Al-Anon meetings are offered in-person, online, and by phone and are available in just about every city and state within the U.S. If you feel nervous or intimidated by attending a group, know that you can just sit-in and listen to figure out if the group is something you may find helpful. Al-Anon groups can help you to learn skills to make it easier to navigate a loved one's substance use and to understand the impact substance use has on the family system as a whole. Substance use doesn't only affect the person using; patterns of behavior and interaction continue to be passed down through different generations without intervention and changes.
Co-Dependents Anonymous
Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) is a no-cost support group for people who want to develop healthy and nurturing relationships with others and with themselves. CoDA groups can help you learn skills to manage different relationships in your life and to understand the importance of being able to set healthy boundaries, for yourself and in your relationships with other people. CoDA meetings are offered in-person, online, and by phone and are available in just about every city and state within the U.S. If you feel nervous or intimidated by attending a group, know that you can just sit-in and listen to figure out if CoDA is something you may find helpful.
